HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police have arrested two juveniles after the home of a 93-year-old World War II veteran was vandalized using spray paint during a burglary.

Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said Tuesday that the boys, ages 14 and 16, have been turned over to juvenile authorities. She says the boys will face burglary of a habitation charges.

Elbert Wood was at a doctor’s appointment Monday when he returned home to find the mess — with spray paint on interior walls and furniture. A Purple Heart medal earned by the former Marine, who sustained shrapnel in his leg during the war, was not damaged.

Police searched the neighborhood and located two teens with paint on them and items allegedly stolen from Wood’s residence.

Wood lives alone in the home. His wife recently died.
