HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to the FBI-Houston, a suspect has been arrested and charges have been filed in connection with a Houston area bank robbery.
Fifty-five-year-old Eugene Smith of Houston was arrested after a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash on Monday.
“The pursuit happened shortly after the robbery of the Woodforest Bank inside the Walmart at 13750 East Freeway in Houston, Texas. During the robbery, a man wearing a fake beard handed tellers a threatening note demanding money. After getting some cash, the robber exited the area in a green mini-van. It was the same minivan that lead officers on the pursuit. After the vehicle pursuit and crash, Smith got out of the vehicle and ran. He was arrested shortly thereafter in the vicinity of Mykawa and Dixie,” added the FBI- Houston division.
Upon Smith’s arrest, officers recovered the cash stolen from the bank. Smith who is charged with one count of robbery by threat in the state of Texas, will be investigated for any possible connections to other bank robberies in the Houston area or elsewhere.
