HOUSTON (CBS Houston) One person is dead and another has been injured after a weekend stabbing.

According to reports, the crime took place at the Palace Inn located on the Eastex Freeway at Greens Road on Sunday.

Investigators stated that a man and a woman were inside the hotel when they heard some sort of commotion coming from outside. That man went outside to check what was happening and he saw another individual letting air out of the tires of some vehicles.

The individual who was reportedly letting the air out of tires then got into an altercation with the man and then assaulted and stabbed the man multiple times. The woman then rushed outside to see what was happening; she was also stabbed by the suspect.

Although two witnesses were able to contain the suspect, one of the witnesses got up to go assist the man who had been stabbed.

Additional reports indicate that the suspect was able to break free from the grip of the one  witness who held him down and he fled in a Dodge crew cab pickup truck with a blue tarp over the back.

As a result of his stab wounds, the man later died. The woman was taken to an area hospital; her condition was not known at the time of this report.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Houston Police.
