HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A woman was found fatally shot in her running SUV Thursday night on Birdwood and Renwick around 11.p.m. According to residents, at least two or three shots were fired.

Eyewitness accounts also indicate that a black Tahoe sped away from the scene. Upon arrival, police found the body of a Caucasian woman believed to be in her 40s, in the driver’s seat of an SUV.

Officials with the Houston Police Homicide Division also stated that it appeared as if the SUV backed up in order to escape gunfire.

As authorities investigate the crime, they did reveal that the victim was engaged in some type of verbal altercation before the shooting. It is believed that the woman is from the Cypress area. There were no suspects in custody at the time of this report.
