HOUSTON (CBS Houston) The Houston area enjoyed a relatively calm Monday but the threat of severe weather lingers for Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to area forecasters, an area of low pressure is scheduled to move into Houston and surrounding areas bringing with it the possibility of heavy rain and flooding for southeast Texas come Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday is expected to be a day that is cool and rainy with one to two inches of rain possible. A severe weather threat is possible for Wednesday with the possibility of tornadoes.

With students heading back to classes Tuesday, forecasters are asking motorists to prepare for slick roads and the possibility of flooded streets.
