HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Officials believe that a heater may have caused a fire at an apartment complex Sunday night.

According to reports, the blaze started at the apartments on Pinemont near Reno in northwest Houston just after 11 p.m.

A couple was awakened by a smoke detector and was able to escape in time. As investigators attempt to pinpoint the cause of the fire, the couple reportedly told officials that their heater had been problematic for some time.

Additional reports indicate that several other apartment units were heavily damaged but residents were able to escape. There were no injuries reported.
