HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to a statement released Monday, former President George H.W. Bush remains in a Houston hospital, continuing to recover.

The statement, released by President Bush’s spokesperson states of Bush’s recovery continuing and his thankfulness for all of the well wishes he has received: “President Bush’s recovery is continuing at The Methodist Hospital, where in recent days he has taken great pride watching big football wins by Texas A&M and the Houston Texans. While no immediate timeline has been set for the President’s discharge, the Bushes wish to thank everyone for their many kind messages.”

President Bush was hospitalized back in on November 23, 2012 for treatment of a bronchitis-related cough. He was then transported to the intensive care unit. A few days before Christmas, he developed a fever. He continues to be under the care of physicians and a medical team who are monitoring his progress hourly.

President George H.W. Bush served as the 41st President of the United States, from 1989 to 1993. A Republican, he is currently the oldest surviving President of the United States.
