HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A teen was rushed to the hospital after being accidentally shot by his father while the two were hunting.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. near Courtney Road and FM 2979 Wednesday. According to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, the father had mistaken his 16-year-old son for a deer when when he shot his son.

The teen was reportedly shot in his groin area. He was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital; his condition was stable at the time of this report.
