HOUSTON (CBS Houston) — Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has reportedly filed a restraining order against a Texas man who sent her an engagement ring in the mail.

TMZ reports 39-year-old Michael Cummings was seen near the former Republican vice presidential candidate’s house on Dec. 27 for 4-year-old Tripp Palin’s birthday party. That’s when Bristol Palin, who says she’s never known Cummings, filed for the temporary restraining order.

Before showing up to the Palin house, Cummings reportedly sent Bristol Palin a wedding proposal through the mail saying, “I (heart) you,” including an engagement ring.

TMZ reports that Cummings’ own mother called police to warn them that her “unstable son” was in town to see Palin.

Bristol Palin was a contestant on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” this past season.
