HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A man was found fatally shot outside of a sports bar early Tuesday morning in Houston; officials believe it to be Houston’s first murder of the new year.
The crime happened outside the Cube’s Sports Bar on Bissonnet near Plainfield. According to police, the New Year’s night club party being held at the venue ended in murder. Gunshots rang out just before 6 a.m. outside of the bar.
Additional reports indicate that after the shooting, the New Year’s party quickly dispersed and the victim was left outside. HFD quickly responded to the scene and authorities pronounced him dead.
The victim who was not identified at the time of this report, was reportedly shot multiple times. It is believed that the shooting stemmed from some type of fight inside the club. Officials also believe that the fight then quickly spilled into the parking lot.
As authorities worked to gather evidence from the scene, witnesses did not stick around long enough to offer information to officials.
The sports bar has seen its share of mayhem. Back on November 18 of 2012, a suspect got into an argument with another man, fired shots near a crowd and hit two people. Those gunshots ended up killing one individual. Azell Keith Thrasher, Jr. was arrested and charged with murder a few days later.
Anyone with information about this New Year’s Day shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
