HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A driver died in a tanker truck crash that shut down all northbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway Wednesday morning.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. According to reports, the tanker truck, which was carrying some type of chemical, crashed and burst into flames. Officials later confirmed that one person did die in the accident.
Crews took about an hour to contain the fire. Emergency and HazMat crews quickly arrived on the scene to provide assistance. The northbound lanes of the freeway were closed between Rank Road and Will Clayton Parkway. The southbound lanes were also also shut down on Wednesday morning.
The driver who died in the accident was not identified at the time of this report.
