HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Two are dead following a standoff at north Harris County apartment complex.

The incident happened after a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable attempted to serve a mental health arrest warrant on a suspect at the Ashton Woods Apartments, located at FM 1960 at Butte Creek.

A struggle ensued at an apartment between the suspect and the deputy. The suspect then overpowered the deputy, took a gun from the deputy and then shot a woman. It is believed that the woman lived in the apartment with the suspect.

The deputy then managed to escape and called the SWAT team for assistance and backup.

After more than an hour of negotiation efforts with the suspect, authorities decided to move in to the apartment. They entered the apartment of the suspect and found two dead people inside of it.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
