HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – Offensive line players do the dirty work to protect the quarterback and create gaps for running backs to make plays. But one NFL star made a purchase to ease the load for some of them.
Texans running back Arian Foster loves his linemen. In the team locker room Wednesday, Foster played Santa to the big boys on offense and gave them each his very own Segway for Christmas.
“Anytime I give a gift, I always try to give somebody something thoughtful,” Foster said. “A couple of guys like (center) Chris Myers and D-Brown (left tackle Duane Brown) and (left guard) Wade Smith, they’re always getting on me about riding my Segway, saying, ‘You can’t walk? You’re too good to walk?’ And I’m like, ‘No, man. I would just rather ride wheels.’

The use of a Segway requires some coordination by the user, but Foster says he’s not worried about his linemen riding their new toys with grace.
“They’re professional athletes,” he said. “Sometimes, they’re like polar bears on ice, but they should be fine. You can’t go that fast on it, so you may get a scrape if you fall. I don’t think they’re going to fall. They’ll be alright.”
Rookie center Ben Jones isn’t working with quite the same budget as the Pro Bowl running back. No, Jones took a different route to make his teammates feel special. He made Christmas treats for the offensive line – seems more like a Mrs. Clause-thing-to-do than something by Santa Clause. But it’s the thought that counts, right?
