HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A Texas A&M student died early Wednesday after authorities stated that the student crashed her vehicle while texting and driving.

The accident happened just after 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, near the Walker-Grimes County line. Nineteen-year-old Chandler Renee Small was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to DPS investigators,  Small missed a turn in the road while traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 30. As a result of the rate of speed in which she was traveling, her vehicle left the road and hit a culvert. The car then flipped over onto its roof. A law enforcement official who was driving on the same highway witnessed the accident.

No word was released as to how DPS determined Small was texting at the time of the crash.
