HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Three residents from Spring have been arrested in connection with the death of a nine-month-old baby.
Jennifer H. Zarnfaller, 41; Vikas Sharma, 29; and Rona Landon, 71 all face the charge of injury of a child with serious bodily injury which is a first degree felony.
The trio was arrested Thursday morning at around 6:30am by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office in collaboration with the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Violent Offender task force. Each was taken into custody without incident at a home located on Ironcrest.
Zarnfaller, who was the mother of the 9-month-old baby girl proclaimed her innocence. The infant died two years ago after being taken to Willowbrook Methodist Hospital. The baby’s injuries included bruises and broken bones. Landon was the baby’s grandmother.
The baby’s death was later ruled a homicide, caused by blunt force head trauma with a skull fracture and brain injury.
A grand jury wanted to question the three suspects but they did not show up to court after being subpoenaed. Each of the three suspects is being held on $50,000 bond.
