HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to a statement released Wednesday, investigators with the Houston Fire Department believe that an apartment fire may have been intentionally set by an arsonist.

Firefighters were called to an apartment complex on Hayes Road around 5:30 a.m. and found flames shooting out the window of a second floor apartment unit. Although they made tireless efforts to keep the fire contained, the fire still damaged two units. No injuries were reported.

Residents who occupied the apartments below sustained water and smoke damage to their property.

According to arson investigators, they are looking into the possibility that the fire was intentionally set by someone. A fire that burned a building on Wilcrest was also being investigated as arson, as it broke out about an hour before the apartment fire.
