HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A court-martial is scheduled to begin in the death of Army Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux of Houston.  Fonteneaux was found dead in her Fort Carson room in January.

Sgt. Vincinte Jackson is to stand trial Monday on charges of murder and premeditated murder in Fonteneaux’s death. If  Jackson is convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.  According to Fonteneaux’s family,  she knew Jackson but they weren’t close.

Jackson, who is  an Army combat engineer from Rancho Cucamonga California, was  deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and also received the Purple Heart.

Fonteneaux was reportedly stabbed in the head and neck four times, along with another 70 wounds in her arms, chest, back and legs.

Fonteneaux lived at the Colorado Springs base, but was originally from Houston. She was a graduate of Texas Southern University in 2009 and was a star member on the track team.
