HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening in southeast Houston. The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. off of South MacGregor near Calhoun.
Reports indicate that a woman believed to be in her 60s, had just left a party and was crossing the street in a dark area. It was then that the woman was struck by an SUV. A nurse who also happened to be at the party tried to give perform CPR on the woman but it was too late. The victim died at a hospital.
The driver of the SUV that struck the woman, told police that she did not see the woman due to the area being poorly lit. Authorities performed a field sobriety test on that SUV driver and that driver did not appear to be under the influence of any substance. At the time of this report, there were no charges pending. Police continue to investigate the incident.
