Pearland School Bus Driver Charged With Sexual Assault

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A Pearland school bus driver has been charged with sexual assault after she was allegedly found with a student at the district bus barn. The Pearland Police Department stated that 47-year-old Diana Leigh Almanza was arrested at her home.

The Pearland school district issued a press release about the incident and stated that the victim and the victim’s family lived with Almanza at her Pearland home and the child would accompany Almanza to the bus barn.

Suspicious activity between the student and Almanza was noticed  and authorities launched an investigation immediately.  Upon the district’s investigation, “…inappropriate interaction between the employee and the student” was revealed.

Prior to her regular Thursday bus route, Almanza was terminated immediately due to violations of district policy and procedure. She was booked into jail on a $60,000 bond.
