With the serious foot injury to Brice McCain, which is likely to keep him of the field until the end of January at best, the Texans have made the move to bring in a handful of veteran defensive backs to Houston for workouts.
Stanford Routt is the biggest name on a list that includes Drew Coleman (formerly of TCU), Justin King, Brandon McDonald, and Leigh Torrence.
Routt was a 2nd round draft pick, 35th overall, in 2005 with the Raiders. He spent last season with the troubled Chiefs, and has been a free agent all season.
The Texans will likely make a roster move by close of business Wednesday.
—UPDATE—
The Texans have signed Stanford Routt to give the Texans depth in secondary.
