HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Late Tuesday evening, a man fatally shot a suspect and injured another during an attempted robbery in a Houston parking lot. A third suspect fled and was still on the run as of Wednesday morning.

The Houston Police Department indicates that the incident happened around 10 p.m. on Medfield Drive at Dairy Ashford Road. As authorities arrived on the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were then sent to area hospitals listed in critical condition. One of the men later died from his injuries.

Upon an investigation authorities found that the alleged robbers approached two men in a parking lot at gunpoint and demanded their money and valuables from them.

One of the victims who apparently has a concealed handgun license, pulled out his pistol and shot at all three suspects. Two of the suspects were hit; one was hit in the chest while the other had gunshot wounds in the stomach and legs. The third suspect fled on foot.

With one of the suspects having died from his wounds, HPD Homicide is investigating the case as standard procedure dictates. Robbery charges are pending against the suspect who is in police custody and investigators are continuing to search for the third suspect who escaped.
