HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – Attorneys of the Jessica Tata day care fire trial will be making their final arguments to jurors in Houston on Monday. Tata was convicted of murder after a fire at her home day care killed four children.

The Harris County jury was scheduled to hear closing arguments Monday beginning 9:30 a.m. The jurors in the trial could potentially sentence Jessica Tata to prison; her sentence could range from five years to life.

Last Tuesday, Tata was convicted of felony murder in the death of 16-month-old Elias Castillo. The prosecution in the case portrayed Tata as an irresponsible day care owner who left the toddlers alone on multiple occasions.

Tata’s defense team, however worked to persuade the court that it was the fault of equipment  not Tata, that started the blaze. Both the prosecution and defense in the trial are scheduled to speak for 45 minutes during their closing arguments with the jury.
