According to Fort Hood officials, a soldier from Houston was killed while driving a car that was hit by a train. That soldier was killed along with a female passenger. On Tuesday, military authorities identified the soldier as 26-year-old Spec. Jeremy Wayne Berczik.
The name of the woman who died in last week’s accident was not released at the time of this report. Additional reports indicate that a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train was traveling westbound when Berczik’s car went around barriers and was struck.
Berczik had reportedly served in the military since 2004; he had also served time in Iraq and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood.
