According to reports, a 78-year-man died Monday morning after he was reportedly run over by an 18-wheeler in the parking lot of a gas station in northeast Harris County.
The accident happened at a Chevron gas station off the Eastex Freeway near East Mount Houston around 7:30 a.m. Additional reports indicate that the man was collecting cans in a shopping cart when he walked into the path of the 18-wheeler which was pulling away from the canopy of the gas station.
The man’s family members said that he was hard of hearing and it is possible that he did not hear the truck. The driver of the truck said that he did not see the man walking.
Charges were not filed at the time of this report. Authorities are investigating the incident.
