The streets of Downtown Houston were transformed into celebratory avenues of patriotic fun and festivities all in the name of America’s veterans on Sunday. Hundreds lined the streets to cheer and honor those who sacrificed their lives and livelihood for the freedoms America enjoys.
Veterans Day was celebrated in a big way in Houston with the annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes – Veterans Day Celebration” parade.
The parade route featured high school marching bands, companies, auxiliaries and entities that assist our valued veterans from all over the county and state.
Harris County’s Sheriff Adrian Garcia led the way for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officials that walked along the streets of Downtown Houston and high school marching bands stepped with skill, tenacity and pride as they played their instruments and danced in unison.
Despite the threat of rain and gusty winds, this year’s parade was one filled with laughter, cheers, claps and praise for those who gave of themselves for our country. Each branch of the armed services was proudly represented.
How did you honor the country’s veterans on this Veterans Day? Check out pictures as well as video of the Westbury H.S. Band and the Milby High School Marching Band of Houston below!
