-RGIII steals the show, and propels the Redskins to a Week 1 victory. A 140 QB rating? 13-15 for 200+ yards and 2 TDs in the first half??? 362 total yards for the game? No turnovers? Wow o wow o wow. Cam Newton who just had the best rookie season in the history of the position didn’t have a game as good as the one RGIII just had all last season.

- The Saints lose, and either Sean Peyton or Gregg Williams or somebody is awful important, because while the offense still moved the ball, the defense allowed 464 yards and Brees threw a couple picks and the Saints are 0-1 without their coach.

- The 49ers appear to be as good as they were last year, and last year they might have been the best team in the NFL. 49ers beat the Packers 30 to 22. Frank Gore played a great game, Randy Moss looks to be perfectly capable at his advanced age, and that defense held the Packers to 3 scoring drives despite only forcing one turnover. Unless something drastic happens, the Niners look to be the class of the NFC at this moment.

- The Packers defense let Alex Smith throw 200+ with a 125+ QB rating, and Frank Gore went for 100+. Green Bay, which lost one game all of last year and trailed at home for a total of 3 minutes last season—literally—loses it’s home opener and finds itself below .500 for the first time since the 2008 season.

- The Jets evidently were saving all their touchdowns for the regular season as they put up 48 (48!) on the supposedly new and improved Bills defense. Sanchez plays a great game after a terrible pick on his first drive (after 1st drive 250+ yds, 3TDs, 10 YPA and a near perfect QB rating). The best development for the Jets was likely how good the rookie Stephen Hill was, 5 catches, 89 yards, 2 TDs.  And even better, Tebow hardly played! 5 carries for 11 yards.

- Patriots get big contributions from both their rookie 1st rounders on defense(5 tackles for Hightower and Jones with Jones adding a sack and Hightower a FR for a TD), and Stevan Ridley goes off, and if that happens often, I don’t know how this team loses. Tom Brady was of course great, and with the 125 from Ridley, the Titans didn’t stand a chance. Patriots win 34-13 and look like the clear class of the AFC.

- The Eagles and Mike Vick played terribly, but luckily for them they we replaying Brandon Weeden and Browns so they got away with it and won 17-16. Vick threw 4 picks (one was a pick 6) and nearly fumbled the game away at the end, but he did find Clay Harbor with 1:18 left for the winning score. Thankfully for the Eagles, Weeden looked just absolutely lost (12-31, 118 yards, 0 TDs, 4 INTs, 5.1 QB Rating)

- Andrew Luck does exactly what Peyton did in his first game with the Colts (Throw for 300 yards, 3 picks, and loses) as the Colts lose to the Bears 21-41. Luck did add 3 TDs, but he looked like a promising rookie QB should—some really nice plays with some bad mistakes as well. Cutler threw an awful pick 6 early, but was great after that and rookie Alshon Jeffery combined with Brandon Marshall for 12 catches, 199 yards and 2 TDs. Forte with a  very forte day, 16-80 on the ground, 3-40 through the air.

-  Matt Stafford was truly awful, but the Lions somehow steal their game against the Rams, 27-23. Stafford threw 3 picks, including one at his goal line by rookie Janoris Jenkins and a pick 6 by Cortland Finnegan. Not sure exactly how Detroit won, except for the fact that St. Louis was HIGHLY conservative throughout the game, but Detroit is going to have to play much, much better if they’re going to compete in the NFC.

- The remaining games were mostly devoid of storylines…  Falcons take advantage of an undermanned Chiefs defense and just throttle KC in the 2nd half, win the game 40-24… The Jaguars blow a game that I don’t understand how they could possibly blow, but on the bright side Blaine Gabbert looked good and made a huge TD throw with :20 left (23-39, 260yds, 2 TDs, 0 picks, 96 QB Rating) and Adrian Peterson is evidently a cyborg as he went 17-84 and 2 TDs in his first game back after his ACL surgery… Skelton injured and Kolb comes in and saves the day as Arizona beats Russell Wilson and the Cards 20-16. Russell wasn’t very good, and the replacement refs gave Seattle an extra timeout which would’ve been a major gaffe had Seattle converted the game winning TD… Tampa upsets Carolina as Cam has a couple picked off and Carolina now 0-11 all time when Cam Newton has a turnover.

Misc.

Mario Williams a non-factor with 1 tackle and no sacks… Ryan Fitzpatrick was just awful, throwing 3 picks… CJ Spiller was fantastic in an otherwise miserable game, 14 carries for 169 and a 30 yard catch… Jake Locker played decent until he hurt his non-throwing shoulder making a tackle, Hasselbeck played the rest of the game… Chris Johnson with a line that would have been bad even for 2011 Chris Johnson—11 carries, 4 yards… Trent Richardson wholly unproductive first game, 19 carries for 39 yards… Eagles rookie Fletcher Cox got a sack… Stephen Jackson another guy with a forgettable day, 21 carries for 53 yards… Sam Bradford with a nice, clean game, 17-25, 198 yards, 0 TDs 0 picks, 105 QB Rating… Matt Ryan was great (3TDs, 300 yards, 0 picks) and so was Julio Jones 6-108-2TDs… Jamaal Charles, in his first game back from ACL surgery, looked nice, 16-87 on the ground… MJD went 19-77 after his lengthy holdout… Arizona has no rushing attack whatsoever, as its 3 RBs (Wells, Stephen-Howling and R. Williams) combined for 17-27… Bucs Rookie RB Doug Martin ran for 24-95… Freeman plays a clean game, 16-24, 138, 1TD 0 picks… Cam Newton throws for 300 yards but throws 2 picks.
