HOUSTON (AP) — Authorities plan to resume their search Sunday morning for a boater who went missing after two boats collided near Baytown.
The Coast Guard said in a news release that a 17-foot motor boat collided with a jon boat Saturday afternoon, sending two men aboard the jon boat into the water. One of the men was pulled to safety by the Baytown Fire Department. Fire officials were unable to find the second man.
The Coast Guard used a helicopter and a 25-foot response boat to join police and fire dive teams in the search for the missing man. The search was suspended overnight.
Meanwhile, state Parks and Wildlife officials were searching for the occupants of the motorboat. They reportedly trailered their boat and left after the accident.
