Mets’ Gee May Need More Surgery For Clot
NEW YORK (AP) The New York Mets say right-hander Dillon Gee is being discharged from the hospital after having surgery to break up a blood clot in his throwing shoulder.
The Mets said in a release Wednesday that Gee could have further surgery to prevent a possible recurrence of the clot in the same location of his arm.
Gee has been put on the disabled list and left-hander Josh Edgin will be called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday before the Mets start a three-game series in Atlanta.
Gee complained of numb fingers on his right hand Sunday, a day after he pitched. Tests on Monday revealed the shoulder clot.
