Rockets Add Royce White With 16th Overall Pick of NBA Draft
HOUSTON (CBS Houston) — The Rockets made a bit of reach with their second pick of the night with the selection of Iowa State small forward Royce White with the 16th overall pick on Thursday night.
Most expected the Rockets would take North Carolina power forward Tyler Zeller with the 16th pick, but instead the Dallas Mavericks moved up to take the ACC Player of the Year with the 17th pick. He was later traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
White, a sophomore, was a standout in the Big 12 last season but the 6-foot-8 forward suffers from anxiety disorder. He originally signed with Minnesota out of high school but left before playing a game for the Gophers because of off the court issues. He averaged 13.4 points and 9.3 rebounds in his only season with the Cyclones.
