TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — Two men who are facing murder charges have escaped from the Miller County Jail.
The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says the men were last seen between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday. Officials say the men used a hacksaw to cut bars on a window, then jumped from a second-floor window.
They went under a 10-foot-high razor-wire fence to get free.
Deputies are looking for 23-year-old Cortez Rashod Hooper and 36-year-old Quincy Vernard Stewart. Hooper is charged with first-degree murder and Stewart is charged with capital murder. Both are from the Texarkana area.
The sheriff’s office said Monday evening that the fugitives still had not been caught.
Shreveport, La., television station KSLA reports (http://is.gd/oPEd0Y ) both men are black. Hooper is 5-4, 130 pounds and Stewart is 5-7, 169 pounds.
