I wanted to take this time to tell you about a great event coming up on Sunday May 20th. It is the 3rd annual Midnight Madness Baseball Marathon game, which will be played at the new home for the Sugarland Skeeters minor league team, Constellation field in Sugarland.

This year we are playing ball for a young man named David Gonzalez. He is 16 years old, has muscular dystrophy and his medical needs are not covered by insurance. All proceeds this year will go towards helping him and his family get him the proper care he needs to fight this terrible illness.

There will be a number of media members, local celebrities and former major league ball players on hand participating in the event. Everyone and everyone and anyone is welcome to come out and watch us go the distance in a 12-hour baseball marathon for a great cause.

The action begins at 10 a.m. with a home run derby contest, and the game begins at 12pm and will go until 12am. There of course will be plenty for the kids to do as well. If you haven’t been out to the new ballpark, there is a play area for the kids to run around, there will also be a dunk tank, which I’m sure will include me at some point, so if you’d like to take your shots at dunking me, now is your chance!

This event was created by David Fantin, creator of Global Sports Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that helps individuals suffering from illnesses that can’t afford medical bills or mounting living expenses.

His organization, year round takes donations of new or used baseball equipment and is distributed throughout the country and the world! If you’d like to make donations, please go to his website globalsportsfoundation.org or you may bring your donations by the stadium on Sunday May 20th!

Admission is free to get in and watch the game and just have fun! It’s baseball heaven on earth, so come out have a few laughs, bring the kids and support a great cause in our community with David and us ball players!

Take a listen into my visit with the founder of globalsportsfoundation.org David Fantin!
