HOUSTON (CBS Houston) — Rockets leading scorer Kevin Martin will miss the second straight game with a plantar fasciitis injury to his right foot, coach Kevin McHale confirmed prior to Saturday night’s home game against the New York Knicks.
Martin was also held out of Friday’s win over the Washington Wizards. He remains day-to-day but McHale seemed encouraged because Martin apparently was disappointed the doctors made the decision to hold him out Saturday as he begins taking medication for the injury.
“He’s a little disappointed he’s not going to play tonight,” McHale said, “but this is a crazy schedule and we’d much rather him be a little more cautious tonight because we have eight games in the next 10 or 12 games coming up in 11 or 12 days coming up so that’s what we are kind of shooting for.”
McHale said he isn’t sure if Martin will be available for Monday’s home game against the Minnesota.
The Knicks will also be without their leading scorer Carmelo Anthony, who has injuries to his ankle, thumb and wrist.
