HOUSTON (CBS-Houston) – Reports surfaced Wednesday that Rice Owls basketball star, Arsalan Kazemi could have sustained some sort of knee injury, per his personal twitter account. Kazemi averaged 16.5 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 67 percent from the field in the last 2 games versus SMU and Tulane. He’s also the number one player in college basketball with 41 double-doubles while being ranked number 3 nationally in rebounds per game with 12.
Kazemi underwent an MRI earlier Wednesday. However, results had not been released prior to game time. Turns out that Kazemi dressed and played 28 minutes, scored 8 points and pulled down 6 boards in the 61-60 overtime loss to UAB at Tudor Fieldhouse.
The Owls had won back-to-back road games against SMU and Tulane and are now 11-8 on the season, 2-2 in C-USA after Wednesday night’s loss.
Rice is set to host Tulsa at 7:00 on Saturdaynight in Tudor Fieldhouse.
