Rockets GM Daryl Morey addressed the media today after practice, and of course the topic was the trade, that didn’t happen.

Last weekend the Rockets, Hornets and Lakers were involved in a deal that would have sent Chris Paul to the Lakers, in turn the Lakers would have sent the Hornets Lamar Odom, and to make the deal “work”, the Rockets would have sent Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic and a 2012 draft pick, in turn of course the Rockets would have received Pao Gasol from the Lakers, ending their search for a true big man.

That was obviously not enough for David Stern or the NBA owners.

Chris Paul has of course since been dealt to the LA Clippers, which has been officially approved by the owners and David Stern. Paul goes to LA in exchange for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and an unprotected future draft choice, the Clippers also received 2 future 2nd round picks.

Daryl Morey spoke with Vandermeer and Lopez this morning and certainly sounded deflated, but discussed the trade that could and should have been at much more length than he did this afternoon in meeting with the rest of the Houston media.

Immediate speculation was that Morey had been advised by Rockets legal council to keep a tight lip because they may be planning legal action against the league. However, what appears to be the case going forward, based just on what I think, the Rockets and Daryl Morey are keeping a tight lip because of fear that they might say too much in addressing questions about the botched trade, and face a fine by the NBA.

You can listen in below to Rockets GM Daryl Morey, as he spoke with the media after practice this afternoon.
