DALLAS (CBS Houston/AP) — A Texas online fashion magazine editor has lost an eye after she was maimed from walking into the spinning propeller of a small airplane after a flight to view Christmas lights earlier this month.

In a statement, the mother of 23-year-old Lauren Scruggs of Plano said her daughter’s left eye was removed Wednesday.

Cheryl Scruggs said, “We have been praying for a miracle. The miracle that Jesus gave us is a prosthesis.”

Lauren Scruggs also lost her left hand in the Dec. 3 accident.

Cheryl Scuggs says her daughter is “recovering remarkably well, given the circumstances,” but added she’s also in “excruciating pain.”

Lauren Scruggs is founder and editor of LoLo Magazine, which includes information on fashion, beauty, health and travel.
