Luhnow Drafted 29 Major Leaguers For The Cardinals

During the seven years Jeff Luhnow was reportedly responsible for the Cardinals’ draft (2005-2011), St. Louis selected a total of 29 players who have made it to the major leagues. During that same time frame, the Astros drafted eight future big leaguers.

Here’s a look at the highlights:

2005- Eight Major Leaguers including Colby Rasmus, Jaime Garcia and current Astros non-roster invitee Nick Stavinoha

2006- Nine including John Jay, Allen Craig, current Astro David Carpenter and Indians’ closer Chris Perez

2007- Nine including Daniel Descalso

2008- Two including current Astro Brett Wallace

2009- One (Matt Carpenter). Nine have reached AA to date.

2010- Four have reached AA through the 2011 season
