HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – In desperation, the Texans have reportedly signed veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme to add depth behind rookie T. J. Yates and Kellen Clemens.
Delhomme, a 10-year veteran, last played for Cleveland in 2010. He was a part of the Carolina Panthers team that won the NFC Championship and appeared in Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston at Reliant Stadium.
The Texans have been victimized at the quarterback position in recent weeks.
Matt Schaub suffered a season-ending foot injury during the Week 10 victory over the Buccaneers.
Former USC standout and Heisman winner Matt Leinart suffered a season-ending collar bone injury during his first start as Schaub’s replacement.
Yates stepped in near the end of the second quarter to finish the game. Yates completed 8-of-15 passes for 70 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
