Jamie Quirk, who has been the Astros bullpen coach for the last 2 seasons, is leaving forChicago.  Quirk is joining the Cubs as their bench coach.

Quirk, a longtime major league catcher, wanted to be involved in more in-game decisions.  He will have that opportunity as the right hand man for new Cubs skipper Dale Sveum.

The Astros granted Quirk permission to get out of his contract which was renewed after the 2011 season.  He is the only member of manager Brad Mills staff who is not returning at this point.

The team has compiled a list of possible replacements but any new additions will likely wait until after new owner Jim Crane hires a new general manager.
