Making a beef pot pie from scratch can take a considerable chunk out of a busy cook’s day. To help make things a little quicker, here is a recipe with some short cuts that will trim your cooking time in half.

Follow the recipe below for a hearty beef pot pie.


1 pound of stew meat
3 jars of Savory Beef – Heinz Gravy
1 can of peas (29 oz.)
1 can of potatoes (29 oz.)
1 can of sliced carrots (29 oz.)
1 table spoon minced garlic
2 refrigerator pie crusts
Vegetable oil


1 In a sauce pan place stewed meat. Pour vegetable oil until meat is midway submerged. Brown meat over medium heat. Simmer meat until it is tender. Place in a mixing bowl and cut into smaller pieces.
2. Open vegetable cans and drain fluid from vegetables. Pour vegetables into mixing bowl with beef. Add the three jars of beef gravy and mix together. Add garlic salt and pepper for taste.
3. Place 1 pie crust into 9 inch pie pan. Fill pie pan with beef, vegetables and gravy mixture. Cover with second pie crust. Poke a few holes in the top of the crust for steam to escape through.
Bake in preheated oven at -350 until crust has cooked according to directions and indications found on crust package.
4. Allow pie to cool.
