HISD  contacted the health department, epidemiologists, contracted the services of an industrial hygienist and Air Quality, inc.  to investigate what made students  ill during a football game, 11/04/2011.

Emergency services took students to area hospitals for  treatment. The students were later released.

Hisd plans to use contracted services to investigate and determine the source of  the symptoms.  Barnett Stadium’s drainage systems, mechanical rooms, plumbing and electrical systems  will be closely examined. Staff and students will, also, be interviewed.

“The safety of our students is our top priority,” said Chief Operating Officer, Leo Bobadilla. “We want to ensure that every precaution is taken to prevent this from happening again.”

The HISD  Athletic Department  will determine whether the next two UIL football games will be played at Barnett Stadium or moved to another facility, by Wednesday morning.
