Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Friday that running back Chris Ogbonnaya will back up Arian Foster against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, but that either Ben Tate or Derrick Ward will also be activated for the game.

Both Tate (groin) and Ward (ankle) practiced for the first time Friday. Kubiak said a decision on which veteran running back will be activated will be made Saturday.

“It would be nice if both Derrick and Ben were able to get another week’s rest but if they’ve got to play, they’ve got to play,” Kubiak said. “But I think one of them will be ready to go.”

Ogbonnaya was just activated from the practice squad last week when the Texans cut Steve Slaton. Ogbonnaya impressed the coaching stuff during the preseason after being signed as a street free agent during the summer.
