A suspect charged and wanted in the sexual assault of a child turned himself in to authorities today (Oct. 5), posted bond and will await a court appearance in two assaults that occured in the 500 block of El Dorado Boulevard in July.

Cedric Tyrone Mason (b/m, DOB: 8-15-70) is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child in the 228th State District Court.  A photo of Mason is attached to this news release.

HPD Juvenile Division Officer J. Colburn reported:

The victim, a 14-year-old female, stated to her mother that Mason sexually assaulted her on July 5 and July 7 in Mason’s apartment at 503 El Dorado Blvd.  A sexual assault exam was completed on the victim and evidence was collected.  The HPD Crime Lab was able to link evidence found in the victim’s sexual assault kit to the DNA of Cedric Mason.  On Tuesday (Oct. 4), Mason was charged.

Mason is a basketball coach at La Marque High School.  The victim is not a student at La Marque’s Independent School District.

About 1 p.m. Wednesday, Mason turned himself in to authorities, posted bond and will await a court appearance.
