The Texans have released fourth-year running back Steve Slaton and have activated running back Chris Ogbonnaya, a second-year player our of Texas, according to a report by SportsRadio 610’s John McClain on Chron.com.

Slaton (5-9, 209) carried the ball four times for a grand total of eight yards during the Texans 40-33 loss to the Saints last Sunday.

Slaton had his only impressive season when he entered the league  as a rookie out of West Virginia and rushed for more than 1,200 yards and finished sixth in rushing for the year.

During this year’s four preseason games, Ogbonnaya (6-0, 226) carried the ball 54 times for 192 yards and one touchdown.
