Since the start of the training camp, the Texans corp of running backs have been injury prone. This unfortunate trend continued with Derrick Ward being injured during the first quarter of the Texans 20-16 preseason victory over the New York Jets at Reliant Stadium. Ward was knocked out of the game at the end of a 11-yard catch and run.

Chris Ogbonnaya, a second-year player out of Texas, entered camp as the fifth running back on the depth chat. While getting a bulk of the reps in camp this week and during the team’s first preseason game, Ogbonnaya has definitely taken full advantage of this opportunity.

Ogbonnaya accumulated 37 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown on 17 carries and became the team’s receiving leader with six catches for 67 yards and a receiving touchdown.
