The Texans have signed veteran fullback Lawrence Vickers, a sixth-year pro and Houston native.
Vickers, who played at Forest brook High School and Colorado, has played his entire five-year career with the Cleveland Browns, who released him last week.
Last season, Vickers played in all 16 regular season games. In 2010, he carried the ball only five times for 11 yards, a 2.2-yard average; but he blocked for running back Peyton Hillis, who rushed for almost 1,200 yards last season.
After the Texans failed to re-sign Vonta Leach, who signed three-year $11 million deal with Ravens, tight end James Casey has been the No. 1 option for fullback during the first few days of camp. Casey told SportsRadio 610 he knew the Texans would want to bring in another fullback.
