Councilwoman Jolanda Jones has been accused of using city resources to promote her law firm, a privately-run business entity. The Office of Inspector General has referred the case to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Jones could face criminal charges if the district attorney believes there to be a case against her.

Jones claims to have remained within the limits of her position and the conduct required. She filed a grievance against City Attorney David Feldman to address his handling of the review process of her case.

“While we are disappointed that the city attorney has bypassed his own process, confidentiality has once again been breached and we were not notified, ” according to a statement released by a Jones spokeswoman. “We are not surprised by this latest act of political pettiness. Council Member Jones has cooperated and been truthful throughout this entire process, and we continue to have every confidence that when the facts come to light, she will have acted within the acceptable standards of conduct.”
