Brandon Lyon had shoulder surgery today and it’s not good news for the Astros ex-closer. Doctors found a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder in addition to a torn biceps tendon.
Team doctors say Lyon will begin range of motion exercises in two weeks. But he is out for the rest of this season.
One year after taking over the closer’s role and notching 20 saves, Lyon suffered through his worst major league season before heading for surgery. He went 3-3 with an 11.48 ERA in 15 games, including four blown saves.
