Astros Get Keppinger Back Against Dbacks

By ROBERT HENSLEE

The Astros will have Jeff Keppinger in the lineup for the first time this season as they open a three game series with the Diamondbacks tonight at Minute Maid Park.  Keppinger has been sidelined since foot surgery in January.  He’s starting at second base and batting second in the series opener.

Brett Myers (1-4, 5.00 ERA) gets the ball tonight.  Myers is battling a career-worst stretch of seven games without getting a win.  He’s 0-4 with a 6.54 ERA since beating the Cubs on April 12.

Daniel Hudson (5-5, 3.82 ERA) takes the mound for Arizona, which has won nine of its last ten games to pull within one and a half games of the NL West division leading Giants.  Hudson has five wins in his last six starts after an 0-4 start to the season.

Keppinger’s return means Bill Hall will see less playing time.  Hall has struggled since signing on to take over the Astros second base job in the offseason.  He’s hitting .231 with 54 strikeouts in 143 at bats.
