Giffords No Longer Needs Helmet
Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has been rehabbing a gunshot wound to her in Houston at Memorial Hermann Hospital. Neurosurgeon Dr. Dong Kim told reporters Thursday that a team of doctors placed an implant in her head to repair her skull and that she’s awake and communicating.
Giffords will no longer have to wear a protective helmet.
Giffords was shot in the head Jan. 8. Six people were killed and 12 others wounded in the assassination attempt in Tucson, Ariz.
