We are going through a major slump in Houston sports. Our local 9 is going through the biggest slump of all and the crowds at the Juice Box are shrinking.

When a staffer told me yesterday that he caught a foul ball, my response was, “How could you miss it”?  I’m all about growing your team through the minors but in the meantime, can we have some fun?  Check out this fundraiser from the “The World Champion” San Francisco Giants.  When I saw this, I wanted to buy a ticket and go to the bay to support the cause. Once again, that is the World Champion San Francisco Giants having fun.  Every team needs a Brian Wilson. “Fear the Beard” was talked about more than the actual series against the Rangers.

If you missed it – and how could you because it was all over the news - the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the fifth inning, set a world record for wearing the most wrestling masks at one time. Attendance on that evening was announced at  40,128. This from a team that is 21-17 and has a shot to win the American League West?   They also set another world record last year by having all fans wear maroon Angels snuggies.

These teams have won World Series. These are winning franchises. If the Astros are rebuilding, why not treat Minute Maid like a minor league stadium and loosen up?  I support rebuilding but in the meantime, lighten up and show me that you can have fun.
